Simple Present Tense

Simple present tense is used when:
  • The action is general.
  • The action happens all the time, or habitually.
  • The action is not only happen now.
  • The statement is always true.
The patterns:

 (+) Subject + Verb-1 + Object
 (-)  Subject + Do/Does + Not + Verb-1 + Object
 (?)  Do/does + Subject + Verb-1 + Object

Examples:

1.  (+) The sun rises in the east
      (-) The sun does not rise in the west
      (?)  Does the sun rise in the in the east?

2.  (+) The boys always go to the school by bus
      (-) The boys do not go to the school by motorcycle
      (?)  Do the boys go to the school by bus?
  
Note: 
  • If the subject is a third person singular (he, she, it) we add -s or -es after the verb.
  • If the verb ends in y preceded by a consonant, we change the y to i and add -es.
  • If the verb ends in o, we add -es.
  • If the verb ends in s, sh, ch, x, or z, we add -es
